The Viator contacts a us and informs us of his/her desire to sell his/her policy. During this period the viator may contact more than one broker.
Once the viator feels comfortable with our company, the viatical process will begin with the broker mailing the viator an application, accompanied by medical
and insurance release forms.
Once the viator returns the requested information, we will verify insurance coverage,
request medical records and prepare a package to present to potential viatical settlement funding sources on behalf of the viator. This initiates the bidding process and it is the responsiblity of the broker to provide a complete information package to the different funding companies so that these are able to make a fair and educated bid.
Once the bid has been given by a viatical settlement funding company, we will notify the viator of the bid. The viator will make the decision as to whether to
accept the bid or not. If the viator chooses not to accept the bid, then we will continue to send out the viator's package to other funding sources until a satisfactory bid is accepted by the viator.
Once the bid is accepted, we notify the funding company of the viator's decision.
The viatical settlement funding company then draws up a viatical settlement contract stipulating the agreement reached with the viator, and sends this
contract to the viator for his/her signature, along with the insurance company's change forms.
Once the viatical settlement funding company
receives the completed and signed forms from the viator, the funding company deposits the funds in an escrow account. The viator should make sure that the transaction is being conducted through an independent third party trustee or escrow agent before signing and returning the specified documents and insurance change forms.
If all other paperwork has been completed and received by the appropriate parties, immediately upon receiving the acknowledgement of change of ownership from
the insurer, the escrow agent will release the settlement funds to the viator, usually within three business days.
